Griffin Votes to Fund Border Security Programs

Oct 10, 2013

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement following House passage of the Border Safety and Security Act (H.J.Res. 79):

“I’ve said from the beginning that shutting down the federal government is terrible policy, and I continue to work with both Republicans and Democrats to find a way to open the federal government and ensure the continuation of critical services.  Funding border security programs that help keep America safe is vital, and Senate Democrats should act to pass this bill immediately.”

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, H.J.Res. 79 would provide $18.8 billion in funding for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s border security programs and represents the 13th bill passed by the House to keep critical programs operating during the federal government shutdown.
